Tips and tricks...

Well this is not so much a trick as a tip.  I wish I could show you a trick.  This would be a much cooler blog if I was like, "Hey! This is how you sew a button....and then cut a woman in half! Ta-da!"  But alas, its just me.  I guess my beautiful assistant would be Chris, and his only trick is to distract me from the garbage he didn't take out with glasses of wine and gyros.

Pin cushions were never my thing.  Its very frustrating when you are working steadily to be sticking them back in and pulling them out - sometimes you even need two hands. Not very convenient.  So in school, I fell in love with the magnetic pin holder.   However, now that I am working at home with a very limited table space, things tend to get cluttered, and that magnet tends to attract all sorts of things...

Bobbins, thimbles (which I don't even use...why, oh WHY do I still have one), bobby pins...

And the worst, the absolute WORST: thread and fabric scraps - everything gets all tangled every time you try to grab a pin - threads are pulling, pins are sticking, you end up with a jumbled mess of trash and a bleeding thumb.

Enter: the bra cup.
Yes, its saucy, its daring.
Its...not really either of those things, but its my favorite.  It acts as a pin cushion for when I want to keep track of needles - they don't get mixed up with the pins - and as a nice little holder for the pins you are working with.  The magnet is great for cleaning up and collecting fallen pins, but this little lady is my new best friend.

See?  Happy, thread-free pins, just hanging out, waiting to be chosen.
