I made this dress last night from an old H&M shirt that I sadly got a coffee stain on and never got it out. I loved the dots on it, so I chopped off the bottom (up to the stain), and added a pleated skirt to it. I also trimmed the sleeves a bit and added a zipper to the back since the skirt wasn't a knit. It a perfect world, the stain would have been lower and the smallest part would have hit more at my waist, but hey - "baby doll" dresses were a big thing when I was in 8th grade, so I say lets celebrate it.
Work in progress...
Look #1: Casual
I styled this casual look with a wide brown belt, dark brown tights, and tall wedge boots. The awesome scarf was made by my friend's mom, who happens to be an amazing quilt artist. You should go check her out here.
Opening the door to no one.
dress: cat got dressed, belt: (not sure...), boots: franco sarto, bag: vintage, scarf: sherry davis kleinman
Look #2: Dressy
I styled the dress a little bit more sassily. Maybe a hot date? Maybe a festive post-holiday party? Maybe just hanging out in my living room? I added some fun vintage pieces and these amazingly awesome shoes I just found this week at the Shoe Inn sale.
dress: cat got dressed, tights: we love color, earrings: h&m, bag & belt: vintage, shoes: gianna meliani
Conclusion: I like Look #1 better! I just felt more comfortable in it and the belt cinched the waist of it a little nicer. I really wish I could have had the waist lower, but hey, that's what you get when you spill coffee on yourself. Lesson learned.
