So here are my picks for Best Dressed, Worst Dressed, and everything in between.
Most Uncomfortable-Looking in Formal Attire: Lena Dunham
(image via The Daily News)
While I like this dress by Zac Posen (the lines in the front are beautiful), Lena couldn't walk in her shoes. And for someone who had to do that hike up to the stage more than once, it was very obvious. Like what little girls look like when they try to walk in their mom's high heels. Also, for someone quite broad-shouldered, I don't think this straight-across-the-chest neckline was flattering.
Best Hair: Jessica Alba

Usually I like a big ol' updo for the Globes, but there were some weird looking ones this year. Jessica's perfectly highlighted tresses looked impeccable in this almost-40's-inspired look. Everytime I curl my hair, I hope for it to come out like this. Alba wins out of my sheer jealousy.
Biggest Disappointment: Anne Hathaway
(image via Socialitelife.com)
Now don't get me wrong. She looks stunning. She is a tall, slender movie star, in a gorgeous twinkly Chanel dress. But COME ON. If you know that you have a pretty sure shot of winning that statue, you pull out all the stops! I also think this made her look as flat as a washboard. Show off the girls Anne! We know you've got 'em, we've seen the movies.
Best Executed Edgy Look: Michelle Dockery
(image via The Daily News)
Michelle is wearing a bias-cut sheath by Alexandre Vauthier with this am-I-really-naked-under-here embellishment at the top. I think it is really tastefully done and a breath of fresh air in a sea of trumpeted pastel gowns. I think her hair is perfect for something so daring. Also: shoulder pads!
Worst Hair: TIE! Taylor Swift & Jessica Chastain
(images via uk.lifestyle.com & glamour.com)
Like, okay, I get the idea they were both going for - the magically placed, bobby-pin-defying structure, and in a perfect world, they both would have nailed it. But I want big bangs and a wavy head-confection from my Taylor Swifts. This looks like something went wrong and they just sprayed and sprayed the Aquanet, patting it down until it was stiff. Maybe if it was just a big bigger all around? I don't know. Jessica Chastain is a red-carpet favorite of mine every year, but this year. Eek. I love her red hair and the waves are almost perfect but the front? I don't even know what's happening here. I also don't want to show her dress. It makes me so sad for her.
The Holy Crap you Had a Baby One Month Ago Award: Claire Frickin' Danes

This is witchcraft.
So you've seen some good, some bad (oh how I wish I had all day long to talk about every single look!), but here are the final best and worst...
Worst Dressed: Halle Berry
(image via The Daily News)
Halle, Halle, Halle. What the Halle were you thinking? This Versace gown (could you call it a gown?) is a hot mess. For one thing, I don't care how ridiculously perfect your body is: this is not age-appropriate. Also, this is formal event, so leave your midriff-baring club attire at home. I am all for a bold print (you will see below), but for a design that is so all-over-the-place? Had this dress been in all black, I don't think I would have had THAT much to say about it. Also, the structure at the top squishes one boob down and makes the other look inflated. I just...blegh.
Best Dressed: Lucy Liu
(image via The Daily News)
I know about 50% of you will disagree with me (people are either loving this or hating this), but this is my blog and I make the rules. She looks amazing! This Carolina Herrera dress brought a cheek-straining smile to my face from the second I saw it. The bold print is perfectly placed in this simple yet timeless silhouette. The fishtail braid is just playful enough to compliment the sweet floral. And its nice to see a big fat gown on the red carpet! And there are pockets! I just love it. Love, love, love. And if I ever see Ms. Herrera in the lobby of my building again, I will give her a fist-bump (in my mind).
I agree with your biggest disappointment. She always kills it.. not that she looked bad, I just wasn't impressed.

i love this! I think Anne Hathaway is a disappointment with or without wearing a dress. Michelle Dockery is my favorite - she kills it every time!
