Prom Progress

Happy Monday ladies and gentlemen.

It was a very productive weekend over at the Munzing house.  All sorts of excitement happening!  We got some new windows, Lady's litterbox is officially in the basement, and Caroline's prom dress is halfway done!

As a little reminder, here's the sketch:

Cutting out the lace / basting it to the silk:
This is always a very time-consuming task but always well worth it.

Draping the one-shoulder detail:
Loving the way the trim on the lace works for this part...

Looks almost done?:
Well its only about halfway finished.  I still need to construct all the support boning on the interior, cut & sew the lining and insert the zipper (always a hoot, especially with beaded fabric).

Hopefully we'll have a fitting next weekend :)

Saturday Sketching

Here are some sketches for a project I have coming up over the next year.  I'll keep it mum for now, but  its going to be pretty darn awesome.

Caroline in Blue

I started sketching for Caroline's prom dress a few weeks (months?) ago and we finally decided on a design:

Can't wait to get started!

*In sketching news, I've decided to try my hand at watercoloring my sketches....fun weekend project? Or disaster waiting to happen?

Bitsy's Prom: Phase 1

I can't believe my baby sister is having her senior prom.

But you better believe she's going to be the most stunning gal there!

She was pretty specific about what she wanted to wear, but it was still a collaborative process to get down to these two options.  Ultimately, she chose the strapless... and she's going to look dynamite!   I just feel bad for all those other girls....

*personal goal met: drawing back views.  I'm just as bad at drawing back views as I am at feet and hands.

A Peplum Success!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Caitlin, sporting her very own Lacey Peplum:

Caitlin contacted me after seeing Sarah's blog post, and I was so excited to get started on another custom project.  That is one of my favorite things about what I do - getting to know a new person and creating something specifically for them.  She was also kind enough to send me this pic of her wearing it this weekend, and I think she looks just smashing, don't you?

Thanks Caitlin!

I know, I know...

I have been busy (proof below!)... and not blogging.  I promise one day soon I will be more consistent.
