1. I chose this seersucker-ish knit fabric that I bought last week, and then this light brown knit that I had lying around for the lining.
2. I folded it into quarters and, using chalk, drew a curve from outside-corner to outside-corner, then cut it on a curve to make it an almost-perfect circle. The cutting was about two yards to begin with.
3. Then I took two measurements on myself: the distance from the top of my neck to my armhole. I folded the top of the circle down about 6 inches since that'll be the collar, and then marked this measurement. Then I took the distance across my back from shoulder-to-shoulder, and marked that as well. I cut the armholes about 8.5" high and 4.5" wide.
4. Then I threw it on the dressform to check the placement, noted the terrible light and quality of this photograph, and then got back to work.
5. I laid out the lining and mirrored the cuttings. I also used extra navy fabric to make collar facing and some simple flat sleeves. I surged all the edges and clean-finished the collar.
6. I would say "ta-da!" if these pictures didn't come out so hellishly awful. But here's the cardigan.
7. Then I told my self, "Cat, go find the real camera and stop using your iPhone."
That looks awesome—I would totally wear! Glad to have found your blog <3
